Home Teaching

Last night I went home teaching.  There were two families, but can't call them families, or they can be called families of one.  Both are divorced, both have children.  And they both have the same problem.

James, not his real name, has never been active in the church.  He has close relatives that are active.  He lives alone, and is frequently visited by his son who lives in a neighboring city.  About 57 years old.  He has lived in our ward for about six months.  Carol and I took a big load of tree branches and limbs and other things from our yard.   James was at the dump with his son.  I we were having a hard time unloading our trailer.  He was unloading his pick-up truck next to us.  They helped us unload our trailer.  They were able to pull some branches out which pulled most of the stuff off the trailer.  We introduced our selves and found that they lived across the road from us and a little bit to the east.

James had worked in our town when he was a teenager.  Also, he is related to some who have lived here.

Sam, not his real name, on the other hand grew up in our town and has been gone most of his adult life.  He moved back about fifteen years ago.  He lives in a pioneer home that was built by his grand parents or great-grandparents.  His ex-wife live in Salt Lake County.

The topic of the home teaching lesson was about families and the importance families in the Celestial kingdom.  James has lived somewhat a un-churchie life.  He did not go into any details,  but his conversation led me to believe that he did not attend church very often.  He has tattoos on his arms and has been a user of tobacco.

Sam on the other hand has been some what active in the church.  And since he moved back to Holden he has been active in the church.

They both have the same problem.  James feels that he has so many sins, he will be in the terrestrial or telestrial kingdom.  His family can come down to visit him.  We, my partner and I, told him that there is hope for him in the celestial kingdom.  I related the experiences of Charlie who is now an ordnance worker in the Manti Temple and has been there for about sixteen years.

Sam felt that he being divorced would have no way to get into the celestial kingdom.  We explained to him that there was a way for him to get into the celestial kingdom.
