The cost of Insurance or the cost of anything.

Basic principle. If there is a lot of it and easy to get, it, whatever it is, it doesn't cost much. If there is not much of it and it is hard to get the cost of it goes up. When the cost of raw materials that make up a bar of soap, a box of cornflakes or a whole bunch of other consumer goods goes up, the quantity in the package goes down to maintain the same package price. Obama is trying to drive down the cost of health insurance down by forbidding the insurance companies to raise their prices. Two things are going to happen. Insurance benefits will remain the same and the insurance company will loose money until it goes out of business. The other thing that can happen is a decrease in benefits. The insurance is going to be in a smaller package.

Blessings

An interesting scripture found in the book of 1 kings. it is basically "if you live right you are blessed, if you live wickedly your blessings are lost." Solomon goes on to say,

"...the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. 4 And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments: 5 Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel. 6 But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them: 7 Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: 1 Kings 9:3 - 7

That is the way that Patriarchal blessings are done. One's blessing may be great, but the fulfillment of that blessing depends on how the person lives.

National Debt

The national debt is at $40,079 per person. How in the world can that ever be paid off. A family of five would have $200,000 debt. That is like making house payments for over 30 years. There were a couple of years during the Clinton administration that there was a surplus. The Iraq war caused the national debt to climb. If the interest rate goes up it will take more money to pay the interest. When a family can't pay their bill, the they are taken to court. Their income is garnished and then those that pay them have to pay their bill to about 25 percent of income. A court order to garnish the income of those that are in or have ever been in congress and on capital hill would be in order to start paying of the debt. If that happened, maybe congress and capital hill would pay the bills as the go.

Miracles

I read the following story in seed catalog called the "Seeds of Exchange" nearly twelve years ago. I have repeated the story from memory several time since, but I wanted to have a copy of it. A Facebook friend posted it, and then I google it and found it at several locations. The author is unknown.

A religious man is on top of a roof during a great flood. A man comes by in a boat and says "get in, get in!" The religous man replies, " no I have faith in God, he will grant me a miracle."

Later the water is up to his waist and another boat comes by and the guy tells him to get in again. He responds that he has faith in god and god will give him a miracle. With the water at about chest high, another boat comes to rescue him, but he turns down the offer again cause "God will grant him a miracle."

With the water at chin high, a helicopter throws down a ladder and they tell him to get in, mumbling with the water in his mouth, he again turns down the request for help for the faith of God. He arrives at the gates of heaven with broken faith and says to Peter, I thought God would grand me a miracle and I have been let down." St. Peter chuckles and responds, "I don't know what you're complaining about, we sent you three boats and a helicopter."

There are numerous miracles in the Bible where there is a direct cause and effect. The Jesus gives the command and the miracle occurs. The above story illustrates that miracles happen in our lives and we just don't see them.

This scripture from the Book of Mormon makes an excellent case for miracles. Korihor wanted a sign, or a miracle that there is a God.

"But Alma said unto him: Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator. Book of Mormon, Alma 30:44

The first cry of a new born baby is a miracle. The interaction of different organism in nature is a miracle. The unusual survival of and injured or deathly ill person is a miracle. A deadly accident that didn't happen because of an unexplained last second intervention is a miracle. The landing of a plane full of passengers on the Hudson River is a miracle. They are all around us.
