Bonus?

Thee has been a lot of talk concerning the bonuses that some of the top officers of companies receiving government money. I don't know how it really works, but it seems to me that a bonus should not be based on contractual documents that were drawn up at the time employment began. It should be based on profit. If the efforts of any employee contributes to more profit for the company, that employee should receive compensation based how much he contributed to that profit. The CEO and other top management should not get a bonus if the company lost money. They would only be able to get a bonus when the company makes a profit. The employees would not get a bonus either.
